Even Robin superfans admit it: The Batmobile is probably the best sidekick Batman’s ever had. Since its inception in 1941, Batman’s ride has been a character unto itself. From the dashing roadsters of the Sixties to the military-grade tankmobile of the “Dark Knight” trilogy, each Batmobile is a mirror for the generation that created it—just like the superhero at the wheel.

Watergate: 40 Years Later

On August 9, 1974, Richard Nixon announced to the nation and the world that he would resign as 37th president of the United States. After Watergate—the break-in at the Democratic National Committee office, the administration’s cover-up, the Congressional investigation, the dynamite reporting in several newspapers and magazines—Nixon’s resignation plunged America into a morass of political mistrust and media cynicism.
